Affirmation and negation in Korean

Koreans, like most people, nod when meaning 'yes'. And shake their head when meaning 'no'. However, there are countries that use these gestures in the opposite.

In Korean, when answering a negative question, 'yes (네)' makes a negative answer, and 'no (아니요)' makes an affirmative response. For example, when answering the question. "Aren't youhungry?" "yes" means you are not hungry.
